Description
This last November I assisted the costume designer (Melody Brocious) on our university show "Into the Woods"
I was assigned to create the wolf feet/legs and hands.
I built the front feet paws onto the special runner shoes that were purchased for the actor.
I began with an under structure of foam tubing to form the shape of the paw then I covered it with fur.
To make the claws, I ended up cutting each individual shape out of leather and painstakingly sewed each side together by hand to form the claw, then I stuffed them with batting and hand sewed them onto the paw.
For the Leg part, I constructed it like spats but make it so that they velcro together on the inseam of the leg instead of the outer part. I also added elastic to the bottom so it would grab onto the shoe.
I also made the hands for the Wolf (I unfortunately only have a picture of them on stage) which were built on top of purchased leather gloves. I first cut out the pattern of a glove in the fur so that I could essentially make a glove to go over the glove. I had to hand sew all the fur onto the fingers and into the fourchettes. I then added plastic nails underneath the fur on each finger for the claws.
It took me hours of work and raw fingers but it come out great! and I was very proud of it

Really cool! Nice costume and detail~ Great job! Has the show been preformed yet? What did your classmates/the actors and actresses think?
