What a terrific mask, It looks perfect, Please could you tell me what you used to make the eyes black. Did you use black tinted perspex?

oh wow  im thinking of doing Cheshire next year for PAX AUS but im not exactly sure how to do the mask, so how do you do the leather part? i have clay so i figure i could mold the mask out of that but i got confused with the leather part?

well making my mask was a 4 step process just to get to the leather part.

1) I molded the shape out of clay onto my plaster face cast
2) I then made a negative alginate cast of the clay mold
3) then I used that negative alginate cast and made a positive plaster cast. (This allowed me to have a solid form of the shape I wanted)
4) I then wet the leather and pulled/formed it over the positive plaster cast to get the shape.

Hope that makes sense and at least helps you somewhat.

Omg! My fiance is working on his own version of Red Arrow also XD they are my favorite pair!

The mask easily took the most time I will say that. But if you plan and take your time, the results are worth it!

No it doesn't. I got my leather at Tandy Leather. They also have a website but I'm sure you don't want to pay shipping and its always best to touch and see the leather first

thank you! leather is honestly one of the most versatile mediums I've worked with, you can make almost anything! one good tip would be, if you plan on making a mask (or anything) with a lot of little detail, use 4-6 ounce leather which is thin and pliable. Also, Vegetable Tan leather is the best kind to use for masks or projects that you want to stay in a specific shape. Hope that helps a least a bit :)

I have wanted to find a decent Cheshire mask for a while now. I've wanted to make one for even longer. Good thing I'm a talentless hack!
Saaayyyy, you wouldn't be interested in the sale of a duplicate, would ya?

If you can work up a list of materials and costs for me, I'd be incredibly happy to see what I can do about throwing some money away in your direction! XD

You should either commission this mask or put up a tutorial for everyone. This is amazing. Best Cheshire mask I've ever seen.

Hi there, I have had a lot of inquiries about commissioning this mask and I would be happy to make one for you, there are just  a few things you need to know before hand:

This mask is made in a specific measurement and I cannot adjust the size since the leather is molded to the already sized plaster cast.
Second, since this mask is made from leather, it is quite pricey. Good quality leather can cost up to $100.
If you are still interested or have any other questions, feel free to ask :) (Smile)
